Details About Educational Qualification
Aspiring BIS Scientist-B recruitment 2020 candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (B.E or B.Tech) with a minimum of 60% (relaxable to 50% in case of SC/ST candidates) AND a valid GATE 2018/2019/2020 score. Although sometimes M.Sc Chemistry candidates used to be eligible earlier, this time there seems to be no vacancy as there is no mentioning of the particular post. Relaxation in age limit also applies to reserved categories as per GoI rules.
If you have appeared in GATE 2018 or 2019 and got a good score, your chance of getting shortlisted is pretty good. 1. Shortlisting of Candidates based on GATE score
Candidates are advised to apply with their best GATE score. The higher the score, the more chance of getting shortlisted. No examination will be conducted for the purpose of shortlisting for Personal Interview. In case of any tie, due process will be followed which includes higher percentile and candidates with earlier date of birth as applicable.
2. Personal Interview
Shortlisted candidates from initial screening above will be called for personal interview. The interview will be held at BIS HQ in New Delhi. Shortlisting for Personal Interview will not be more than 1:4 ratio. In this stage, Document verification will be held in the morning as per schedule to be notified to shortlisted candidates. Once document verification is complete, interviews will be held for each candidates. There may also be a short Group Discussion (GD) round right after document verification and before personal interview.
3. Final Selection List
The final select list will be prepared and published taking into account an 85% weightage given to candidate’s GATE score and 15% to Personal interview. This list will be prepared discipline-wise as per available vacancies and subject to number of candidates found fit for the posts.
